Feeding Schedule

I had a hard time trying to figure out how I should feed my baby solids and when. Unfortunately, our pediatrician wasn’t very informative and I was left sorting through various online sources and books to make my own plan. Below is a rough idea of what worked for us, from the time we started solids (a few days after her 5 month birthday) until she turned 1 year.

The times you find below are reflective of the schedule she created herself. I’ve never followed strict eating times – I let her show me she was hungry. In the early months, she would start crying and, after trial and error, I figured that was her communicating she wanted to eat. As she got a bit older and she started babbling more and more, 9+ months, I started using a certain saying (“yum”) for her to associate eating with. It only took her a few days and she started yelling “yum yum” when she was hungry. It was pretty cool and made it so much easy for her dad and I. What signs or words do you use to help you child communicate?
